Bernie L. Bates Foundation Incorporated

The Bernie L. Bates Foundation was incorporated April 21, 1995. The Foundation was incorporated exclusively for charitable and educational purposes, meeting all requirements of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service Code. Specifically, the Foundation awards scholarships to college students and college-bound high school students. The Foundation also sponsors and supports community educational activities such as enrichment and college preparation programs. Additionally, the Foundation conducts direct and comprehensive engagements with the community that targets improvements 'in the quality of life. Psi Alpha Alpha, parent organization of the Foundation, awarded $77,000 to eighteen students over the last eight years. In addition, one-time grants valued from $330-$1,500 have also been awarded during this time totaling more than $6,750.

Donations to 501 (c)(3) organizations are 100% tax deductible and since Bernie L. Bates administrative costs are absorbed by Psi Alpha Alpha Chapter, 100% of the money donated is applied directly to our educational and community service and social action programs.
